HHS Students Safe

I am writing to inform you that Honesdale High School was evacuated this morning for an incident that was not a drill. In the elevator foyer, a heater malfunction resulted in smoke that triggered the building’s fire alarm system.
All students and staff followed established safety protocols and evacuated the building quickly and safely. All students were relocated to WHMS with supervision. Emergency personnel have pinpointed the issue, given an “all clear” and students will be returning to their regular classes momentarily.
We want to emphasize that all students are safe.
Today was a reminder that while these moments are unsettling, they also show the strength of our school community, the importance of preparation, and the incredible value of our partnerships with emergency responders. I could not be more proud of our students, staff, and the many professionals who helped keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely
Superintendent of Schools
Timothy Morgan
