WHMS Curriculum Night
August 17, 2022
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is my sincere honor and pleasure to be the Principal of our great school, The Wayne Highlands Middle School. I am always impressed with the students that enter the hallways of the Wayne Highlands Middle School each year. With that being said, I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be the Principal of an excellent school! Through collaboration with the administrative team, staff, parents, students and the community I will strive to continue the high standard of academic excellence that The Wayne Highlands Middle School is known for while continuing a safe and healthy environment for all students, faculty and staff.
The administration, faculty and staff would like to invite you to attend our Wayne Highlands Middle School Curriculum Night. It is scheduled for Wednesday September 7 from 5·30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. This evening is a great opportunity to gain knowledge of the courses in which your child is enrolled, visit classrooms, meet our faculty and staff, and support your child in his/her scholastic endeavors. We are asking that Parents/guardians follow an "open house" type format to visit teachers in their classrooms. This will give parents flexibility in the order in which they visit the teachers. Please find a guideline for the evening:
5:30 PM - MAIN ENTRANCE
• Please pick up a copy of the Curriculum Guide
• Visit the PTA Membership table and the displays of other community organization
5:45 PM - 6:15 PM - CAFETERIA
• Presentation by the Wayne County Public Libraries
• Presentations by Penn State for after-school programming
• Parent Portal/District Website Presentation by Mrs. Sheldon
• Presentations by Mr. Kretschmer, Mr. Burns, and Mrs. Murray
6:15 PM - 7:30 PM - CLASSROOM VISITATIONS
• Open House format where you can feel free to visit your son/daughters teachers in their classroom in any order you choose. Please stop by the main table to pick up a copy of your child's schedule
On this evening our faculty and staff will explain their areas of study, homework, textbooks, and activities. They will take the time to answer questions you may have about our school, the curriculum, and other activities. Please understand that although you may have individual conversations with teachers, this evening we will not be able to hold individual student conferences. This is an informational evening for you to garnish an understanding of what your son/daughter will learn this year. Parent conferences will be scheduled for November, 2022 and more information will be sent closer to that date. If you believe you need to speak to a faculty or staff member prior to parent conferences, please telephone the WHMS at 570-253-5900 to make arrangements. I encourage you to put Curriculum Night on your calendar. I am confident that it will be beneficial to you as a parent, and in turn, positive for your child. I look forward to seeing you on September 7th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
John D. Kretschmer
Principal
Wayne Highlands Middle School.
