COVID-19 Community Update

September 8, 2021

Dear Wayne Highlands School Community:

I want to begin by thanking all of you who have assisted in making the start of the school year a success.Regardless of the challenges we continue to face, we are off to a great start!

As we have seen over the first two weeks of school, the Coronavirus situation continues to develop. Now more than ever, it is important to remember to keep your children home when they are sick. To help limit the spread, please screen your children in the morning before sending them off to school. Watch for symptoms of COVID-19 including cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea. If you or any members of your household develop symptoms of COVID-19 or have symptoms that worsen, notify the Pennsylvania Department of Health immediately at 1-877-724-3258 and contact a health care provider.

Finally, like last year, Board Meetings will be conducted virtually when the pandemic is in the substantial/high community transmission phase. Our current level of community transmission remains in the high phase. As a result, the meetings scheduled for September 14 and 21 will be held virtually, via Zoom. As we would do during an in-person meeting, there will continue to be the opportunity for public participation. To attend and/or participate in the meeting, please visit https://waynehighlands.org prior to the meeting where you will find the meeting Zoom link. Our Director of Technology, Mr. Scott D. Miller, will be directing the Zoom meeting. He will ask those that want to participate to express their interest in the “chat room”. Once a request to participate is submitted, Mr. Miller will provide the individual with the opportunity to speak.

The Wayne Highlands School District Board of Education has established procedures for members of the public who wish to address the Board during the Public comment period. These procedures are in accordance with PA Act 93 of 1998 and Wayne Highlands School District Policy. Those wishing to address the Board must be recognized by the Board President and must preface their comments by an announcement of their name, address, and group affiliation, if applicable. All statements shall be directed to the presiding officer; no participant may address or question Board members individually. No participant may speak more than once on the same topic, unless all others who wish to speak on that topic have been heard. Finally, each statement made by a participant shall be limited to five (5) minutes duration.

I remain grateful to be a part of the Wayne Highlands School Community and wish all of you and your children much success in the 2021-2022 school year!

Sincerely,

GREGORY FRIGOLETTO
District Superintendent
