Board honors students in September
Four students were honored for their achievements during the September meeting of the Wayne Highlands School Board.
James “BJ” Holloway is the son of Melody Marks of Damascus. He ranks in the top 15 percent of his class and is active in a variety of school activities.
James participated in junior high track & field, varsity track & field, the American Mathematics Contest and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is also a member of the Honesdale High School Players and has been in three musicals.
An honor roll student, James also participated in the Kizmet Filming Program,
which included script planning and filming. James plans to work for one year after graduating high school before attending college to pursue a career in criminal psychology and acting.
Kally Pachuta, the daughter of Beth Salzameda of Damascus and Stephen Pachuta of Hon esdale, also ranks in the top 15 percent of her class. She has played basketball and lettered in track & field, where she received the Most Improved Player award.
Kally is a student council member at large, homeroom representative and secretary. She has participated in the American Mathemat ics Contest, a three-year member of Interact Club and is on the honor roll.
A National Honor Society student, she is also a three-year member of the Interact Club, nine-year member of Honesdale Dance Studio and a four-year member of St. John’s Youth Group. Kally plans to attend a four-year school to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She plans to minor in Spanish and intends to study abroad in Spain.
Julia Polt is the daughter of Sara Wittman of Damascus.
Julia is ranked in the top 10 percent of her class and has participated in junior high and varsity track & field.
She was a member of the Interact Club for one year and has served as president of her class for her junior and senior years.
Julia is also a member of the honor roll and the National Honor Society.
She plans to attend Marywood University to study developmental and school psychology.
Joseph Rutledge is the son of Ryan Rutledge of Tyler Hill and Bonnie Rutledge of Honesdale. Ranked in the top 15 percent of his class, Joseph is a member of the wrestling team.
He was named Rookie of the Year, District 2 - 1st Team/All Academic Team. In district competition he earned a sixth place finish. Joseph also placed fourth
and qualified for Regional competition in a separate year. He earned the Academic Excellence Award and was named a PIAA District 2 First Team All-Star.
Joseph participated in the American Mathematics Contest, the Keystone Boys State Leadership Conference in Shippensburg. He also received appointment and attended the academy introduction at the United States Coast Guard Academy.
An honor roll student, he is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Joseph plans to attend a four-year college/ university. He is undecided on a major.
