Canine Narcotics Search Conducted

Each year, the Wayne Highlands School District conducts proactive safety measures, including canine searches led by trained narcotics detection handlers. On the morning of Wednesday, April 8, 2026, a canine search was conducted at Honesdale High School and Wayne Highlands Middle School.
These efforts are part of the District’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.
This year’s search was carried out in partnership with the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit and the Wayne Highlands School Police. We are entirely grateful for our local law enforcement partners and wish to thank them for their excellent work continued support.
